Prevention of Stretch Marks

Every woman that has gone through a pregnancy or multiple pregnancies want the body back that they had before that day. Some want the body they never had however, during that most precious of times, when life is growing inside them, it is changing their outward appearance as well. A horrible thing called stretch marks happen at least to most women.

So to start off right, the best thing to do would be to prevent them before they happen. Maybe to do that we need to understand why they happen. They happen because the skin is being stretched at a rapid rate because of weight gain. Just the stress of pregnancy can make your body store fat more so than normally and cause you to gain weight rapidly, not to mention the adorable creature growing inside you.

When your skin loses its elasticity two things are occurring, dry skin and a growth spurt. Prevention of stretch marks start with keeping your skin moisturized as much as possible. After taking a hot shower or bath, pat your body dry and then use a moisturizing cream, lotion or even a body oil to replace the moisture in your skin.

The next step in helping to prevent the formation of stretch marks is of course a balanced healthy diet. A healthy diet is also the best kept secret to keeping your skin glowing, soft and full of elasticity. Keeping your body hydrate is a must. Also, avoid eating or drinking things that are harmful to your body like tea, coffee, caffeinated drinks. Smoking is also something that should be avoided.

Vitamins, vegetables, fruit, and high fiber foods are part of a healthy balanced diet. Drinking water daily will also help wash toxins from your body. Staying away for foods with excessive amounts of fat is highly recommended. They maybe other things to consider as well and that is an exercise program. If you are pregnant make sure to check with your doctor before changing your eating habits or starting an exercise program, especially if you were not exercising before your pregnancy.
